Afriski Mountain Resort
Gold Winner | Best Corporate Website
The New Generation Social & Digital Media Awards 2017
Gearbox Creative has been the preferred digital provider to Peter Peyper, a long-standing client, since 2012. The first development we undertook with this client was an eCommerce store selling G-Form protective sports gear, funky no-tie Hickies laces and kick-that-dodgy-sweaty-feet smell with SmellWell under the company name BRA! [Boardriders Asylum]. In 2014, we developed and maintained another eCommerce company, Gone Skiing, which sold snow and ski gear from their store in Fourways, Johannesburg. As the brand and brand range grew, we redeveloped the BRA! website once again in 2015 to accommodate these changes. It was because of this long-standing relationship that Gearbox Creative was approached to redevelop Afriski Mountain Resort’s website in 2016. In 2017, we entered the website into the New Generation Social and Digital Media Awards under the online media and tools category. We hadn’t expected much [three people can do a lot, but win gold…?] and had decided not to purchase tickets to the live awards ceremony. We received a call from the organiser “strongly suggesting” that we do so. Turns outs daily dedication, hard graft and some beautifully written custom code can go far… we won gold.
Never a man of many words, Peter Peyper had this to say, “Well done and always such a pleasure working with you”.
The client made the decision to rebrand in August 2020, and, while our award-winning website is no longer live, we are still proud of our blue-green love.
